101 things...# 14...eat something

Did you ever notice how much better things taste when eaten outside? Of course, anything cooked over an open fire is great, especially if it involves chocolate. This time of year, the warmth of a toasty fire just makes outdoor food even better. But really, even a bag of raisins, when sun-warmed and eaten trailside, becomes something special. Or a crisp, cool apple on a crisp, cool fall day? Heavenly. It's always a good time of year for a picnic. You don't need to make it fancy-so don't stress if you don't have a tablecloth and fancy picnic basket. Just bring your everyday snacks to a nice place outdoors and enjoy.

  1. I used to bring a small bag of chocolate chips with me on the long walk at a natural area to entice my children to walk back to the car when it was time to go. The exciting part was out on the boardwalk over the wetlands, the return through the woods wasn't as interesting, and we all were tired. Yes, they tasted extra good!
